The folks at Backscatter asked me to do a comparative review of the Olympus C3030Z digital camera in the Light and Motion Tetra housing and the Nikon CP990 in the Ikelite housing. I asked my friends at Island Dream where I might be able to find clear water and a good dive operation on short notice. They suggested diving with Fisheye in Grand Cayman. Here are some of the better shots from the trip. If you're an underwater photographer, see if you can guess which shots are from which camera, then see my (upcoming) review.

"Another Day in Paradise" - The weather hasn't been good. Here you see (l to r) Jamey, Ian and Bart of Fisheye avoiding a freshwater shower. |
This shot of a fish in a club tipped anemone is my favorite shot from the trip. |
Our best dive was to Tarpon Alley on the North Wall, where schools of tarpon congregate. |

The next time we tried to get to the North Wall, the swell had picked up to about 8 feet. That sounds modest for Monterey, but the waves were breaking in the channel, so we couldn't get through if we had wanted to. So instead we fed stingrays. |
